| so i started working again yesterday, it was a fairly easy day. it would have been nice to sleep in again but i can not be lazy forever. all we did was unpack the cruise boxes and set up our shops. after unpacking we had command quarters. that is when the whole command falls into formation and we stand while the commanding officer talks. it is usually pretty boring. they say the same things most of the time...be safe, don't drink and drive, have fun on leave etc.
i was thinking about coming home this weekend until i went to fill up my car and found that gas is so freakin' expensive. so ya'll will have to go at least one more week without seeing me. i know this might be hard for some of you but i am sure you can handle it. anyhoo, i need to go back to the barracks and finish unpacking and clean my room.

| - DC-10 hi... i know it has been a while since i have posted but i have been away. for those of you who do not know where i was or what i was doing here is the semi-condensed recap: on january 20th i boarded a dc-10 bound for naples, italy. after a long flight we finally arrived. we had a 2 hour layover in italy (i got ot see the air port and mount vesuvius from a window) and got back on the plane and flew to souda bay, greece. we had another uneventful layover before getting back on the plane and flying to bahrain, united arab emirates. i spent the night in the air port. it was not the most comfortable place to sleep but at least they had hot showers. in the morning we hopped on a cod (carrier onboard delivery) flight out to the great uss harry s. truman, arriving onboard at about four pm, saturday the 22 of january. what a trip! but that was only the beginning. onboard the truman i was sent to the line shack where we were required to service (oil) jets, help fuel jets, keep the flight deck clean and if you are a plane captain (i am not one yet) launch and recover jets. it was not to bad. once i got used to the 12 hour workdays seven days a week i was actually brginning to enjoy it. so of course they had to move me. i was temporarily assigned to berthing cleaners, cleaning up after everyone int the berthing and also cleaning the heads (bathrooms for you non military folk.) i stopped in two ports during my time out to sea. the first port of call was jebel ali/ dubai, united arab emirates. it was a nice port. dubai is becoming one of the most modern cities in the middle east. the people there have no problems with americans which made it nice for all of us. i pretty much just hung out with some of the guys i worked with in this port. the highlight of our stay was visiting the hard rock cafe in dubai. now on to my favorite port portsmouth, england. england was awesome. that is the only way to describe it. i stayed around portsmouth for a few days, did some shopping and sightseeing before going to london my final day. i road the train to london it was about an hour and a half ride but you got to see alot of the english country side. london was extremely cool. i walked around all day visiting most of the big tourist traps... buckingham palace, tower bridge, big ben etc. it was a blast. i would glady go back to england again. i was also able to watch a football (our soocer) match in a bar with the english. that was a highlight. we left england to come to america. those eight days were some of the longest days of cruise, but we finally arrived in norfolk virginia united states of america yesterday the 18 of april 2005 at 1400. that was the best part of my three month cruise to be "home" in virginia. i took lots of pictures and will tell you more when i get to see you in person. ican not wait to get home for real. peace | | |
| hey everyone. it was so nice to be back for the weekend. i did not feel like coming back on monday. it snowed here today for the first time since i have been here. it is only a dusting. i guess they are not used to snow because some of the stuff around here has shut down because of it. so tomorrow is the big day. i will be leaving snowy virginia and heading to somewhere a little warmer. i will be arriving in bahrain, saudi arabia sometime on the 21st. then i will be flying to my ship shortly thereafter. i am ready to go (except for packing, not a big deal right?) anyways, i will catch ya'll when i get back, if not before. peace | | |
| well, we finally finished cleaning out the trailer. it looks nice enough to tear down. i am still trying to figure this one out. anyways, we went to the flight simulator building and moved a safe. it weighed about 4 tons, or maybe i am exaggerating and it only weighed a half ton, all i know is it was really freakin' heavy. then we started replacing floor tiles. they were heavy too, but i am really buff so i can handle it. no, not really, i just like to pretend i have muscles upon muscles. i am really just a skinny white guy, but i am ok with that. maybe i will get motivated and go work out soon...or maybe not. we are supposed to get a closer look at the flight simulators tomorrow. they only cost about a bajillion dollars so i think we should get to try them out. i wouldn't break anything on purpose i promise. thats all i got for now.
leaving in 8 days.

| hey. i am now in oceana, va. things here are going well. i have not done to much work since i have been here, but i am not complaining. we have been cleaning up one of the buildings here on base so they can tear it down (if you can figure this one out i would sure like to know why i am doing it.) i guess thats the government for ya. anyways, i found out today that i am going to be flying to the persian gulf on 20 jan 05. i will be landing on the USS Harry S. Truman after a 20 plus hour flight. i can not wait. i will be out there until at least april and maybe a little longer. i won't know when i am coming back for sure until it is a little closer. i will try to keep ya'll updated. peace | | |
